GST: Screening committee to look into selling price complaints

DEHRADUN: Even as the union cabinet has approved the new National Anti-Profiteering Authority (NAA) to take up complaints in the Goods and Services Tax (GST) regime across the country the Uttarakhand government has also set up a two-member screening committee to look into the selling price complaints of consumers in Dehradun.

Deputy sales tax commissioner, Piyush Kumar and commissioner central excise P K Goel will take complaints and act against the culprits under GST rules.

“The screening committee has not got any complaints so far but anyone who has noticed any discrepancy related to the prices of products can inform us,” Kumar said, adding that the “anti-profiteering” measures enshrined in the GST law provide an institutional mechanism to ensure that the full benefits of input tax credits and reduced GST rates on the supply of goods or services flow to the consumers.
