Bill for GST amendment passed

Besides the Narcotics Drugs and Psychotropic substances (Amendment) bill, 2018 two other bills — HP Goods and Services Tax Amendment Bill 2018 and HP Gauvansh Sansrakshan and Samvadhan Bill, 2018, — were passed in the house today.

In the amendment HP Goods and Services Tax Amendment Bill 2018 the traders having a turnover of Rs 20 lakh or less would be exempted from the GST. Though the GST council had taken a decision on it a few months the Himachal Assembly passed the amendment today. Under the HP Gauvansh Sansrakshan and Samvadhan Bill, 2018 the government has proposed to establish an agency for preservation and welfare of cows, bulls and ox. The agency proposed under the Act would have right to register stray cattle in the state, control the gau sadans in the state. It would also fund efforts to improve the breed of indigenous cow breeds.

The state government will pay income generated from temple trusts and cess levied from liquor to the agency for maintenance of cattle. It has been proposed that the government would pay an initial amount of Rs 5.30 crores for setting up the agency and a recurring expenditure of Rs 2.95 crores.
